Craft Roots - Spring Break Program for Youth 12 - 16 years of age

Craft Roots – Spring Break 2018 – March 19 – 23, 2018 –For youth ages 12 – 16. Five days of craft classes in half-day segments. Each student can sign up for up to 10 craft classes. Classes meet from 9 a.m. to noon; then from 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.. There are 10 craft workshops over 5 days.

Example of a class  – Soap making – watch a demo of Linda making soap, follow along on your handout and take notes. Cut hardened soap. Explore different scents and additives and why you would add them to soap. Make your own lotion bar. Choose your favorite bar of soap to keep. Classes include -

1.       Chandling;

2.       Jewelry;

3.       Basket Weaving;

4.       Broom making;

5.       Drawing;

6.       Leather;

7.       Cheese making;

8.       Soap making;

9.       Blacksmithing;

10.   Woodcarving;

11.   Weaving;

12.   Quilting;

13.   Stained Glass;

14.   Pottery; and

15.   Letterpress Printing.

Twelve students maximum. Because of equipment and classroom space, we will divide the students up into 3 groups of four per class.

Registration deadline March 1, 2018.
