Alabaster Stone Carving Class
June 5-9,2017 (5-day class)
Taught by Paul Pitt
Paul Pitt is offering a five-day class of carving alabaster stone.
He has chosen the translucent carbonate of lime which is much softer than marble but finishes with comparable beauty. Approximate hand-size sculptures will be completed. All tools and materials provided.
Cost of Class $100, small alabaster pieces $1 per pound. Pay Paul at the beginning of class, he accepts cash or check
$100 non-refundable registration fee due to the Ozark Folk Center at time of registration
Pre-registration is required and the deadline to register is May 31, 2017
Limited class size: 3 minimum, 8 maximum
Class begins at 9 a.m. Meet your instructor in the Administration Building and go to class from there. Class generally wraps up by 4 p.m. with a break on your own for lunch.

Meet your Instructor –
Paul Pitt received a BA from Harding University, an MA from Tulsa University and an MfA from University of Memphis. He taught at Harding University from 1971 to 1978 and a continuing education class at University of Memphis in 1980 and 1981. He now teaches sculpture and drawing at Harding University. His work is in numerous private collections around the country and you can find his artwork in many galleries from coast to coast. He has received many awards and merits, including an invitation to be in a White House Exhibition in 1993 by creating an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree. He and Sharon, his wife, live in the woods in a cave house, have an organic garden and experience directly the Creators touch.
