For the 2016 Season Troy will be teaching his Basic Letterpress Printing Classes: Oct. 17-19

Each class requires pre-registeration and the deadline for registration is two weeks prior to the class date. Classes fill quickly so call today, 870/269-3851.

Turn back the clock to a time when printing was produced using handset metal type and foot powered presses. In this three day class, you will learn the fundamentals of typesetting, composition lock up, press operation and bindery operations.
 
Create your own personalized business card, note pad, stationery, calling card, note card, invitation, envelope, or other printed item. You may bring your own paper or purchase from stock in the Old Time Print Shop. Various papers, cards and envelopes will be available. Other tools, materials and equipment in the shop will be provided to create your own personal printing. Normal materials used in the course of production such as ink and chemicals are included in class fee.
 

  • Total class cost $330. 
  • Participants should bring an apron or old shirt and rubber gloves to protect clothing and hands from ink.
  •  $60 non-refundable registration fee is due to the Ozark Folk Center when you register for this class.

  • The class fee of $270.00 is due to instructor at the beginning of class. Troy accepts cash, check, credit or debit card.
  • Limited class size: 1 minimum, 2 maximum
  • Class begins at 9 a.m. Meet your instructor in the Administration Building and go to class from there. Class generally wraps up by 4 p.m. with a break on your own for lunch.

Troy Odom
A life-long love of printing lead Troy Odom to study at the Old Time Print Shop at the Ozark Folk Center and then take it over as his business in 2010.

Since that time he has explored many new techniques on the old presses and shared his knowledge with students and apprentices.
