An Anniversary Celebration!
This year, Arkansas State Parks will be 75 years old! AND, the Ozark Folk Center State Park will be 35 years old. In honor of these to birthdays, the Folk Center will have a party. There will be music and musicians (or their representative family members), artisans and their work, from as early as our first year of operation, 1973! It’s our plan to invite folks from these first years to come on back to their Park and bring some of their work and their music. During the day, we will host guest Artisans in the Craft Area and in the evening we will present the songs, tunes and dances of our early year performers. There will also be a reception honoring the music, dance and art of the Ozark Folk Center “old timers” at 4pm. in the Administration Building Lobby. We are proud of our Park and hope you will come and help us celebrate!

An Ancient Voice on the Wind
Cedar flutes, made in the Native American style, produce tones, which are primordial as well as hauntingly exotic. “Coyote Clay” Paul Pitt, who has been adopted into the Neches tribe, and teaches sculpture and drawing at Harding University; creates cedar flutes which uphold the strong tradition of Native American style flute making, while also standing alone as individual works of art. Each is carved into a 3-dimensional form with numerous designs and animal shapes burned into their surfaces. In addition, they are tuned chromatically to produce a performance-quality instrument, praised by flute makers and flute players from around the nation. Please join Paul for a magical week of building and learning to play your own personal Native American style flute.
Admission: Class fee: $250.00 Deposit: $75.00 Material Fee $30.00
